Thank you email not getting sent via SMTP

Hi,

I have a problem with Sendy, no matter how I subscribe the user (API or POST request), the thank-you email never gets sent. Note that I use Sendgrid SMTP and not Amazon's SES but that shouldn't change anything.

What works:
- Sending newsletters to subscribers
- Sending test messages

The only thing that doesn't work is the thank-you email. Btw, I'm using single opt-in.

Can I stop a campaign that's already sending by hitting delete?

A campaign I'm sending right now has an error (somehow it changed between sending a test email and sending the whole thing). If I hit delete, will that cancel /end the sending?

Backslashes prepended in apostrophes in subject line

We recently upgraded Sendy to 1.1.6.3 and not we cannot add an apostrophe without getting a backslash after saving. Can someone explain how to correct, or id this is a known issue with the newest version.

6 cron Jobs in GoDaddy

Hello, i know this topic has been revised many times but none of teh solutions seems to work for me.

its about cron job in godaddy, i read the one about doing 6 cron jobs that work twice per hour

i added all the 6 cronjobs with this command with no quotes:

"php /var/chroot/home/content/02/10109302/html/domains/gsmedios/emailmarketing/scheduled.php > /dev/null 2>&1" (of course this cotains the path of my server)

does not seem to work

in the "add cron job" instructions in sendy i see another option whic is:

"*/5 * * * * php /var/chroot/home/content/02/10109302/html/domains/gsmedios/emailmarketing/scheduled.php > /dev/null 2>&1:

which one is the one i should use?

Error during installation - variable $dbPort has no effect

Hello,

I have a config.php file with the following content (related to db):

$dbHost = 'myhost';
$dbUser = 'user';
$dbPass = 'password';
$dbName = 'sendy';
$dbPort = 9010;

When I access Sendy's URL (first time), I get the message:
"Can't connect to database There is a problem connecting to the database. Please try again later."

In Apache error log, I see the message:
PHP Warning: mysqli::mysqli(): [2002] Connection timed out (trying to connect via tcp://myhost:3306) in /opt/httpd/sendy/htdocs/includes/functions.php on line 6

It seems that the port I set in config.php is not being used during the installation.

How can I fix it?

Webversion Not Creating Link

@Ben,

I have sent just a few campaigns thus far but noticed that my "View Web Version" link is not populating anything in the actual send. It just appears as text. The Unsubscribe code seems to work just fine.

Hi Ben,

Continuing from this post http://forum.sendy.co/discussion/852/unsubscribe-mechanism/p1

Do this:
1. Create a "List 1", then add "hello@sendy.co" as a recipient.
2. Create a "List 2", then add "hello@sendy.co" as a recipient.
3. Create New Campaign and release the campaign with some test data - be sure to include Unsubscribe here
4. When you receive the email, click on the unsubscribe link.
5. Check your lists above - "hello@sendy.co" would be unsubscribed from "List 1" and "List 2" - this is expected behavior, which is good.
6. Create a "List 3", then add "hello@sendy.co" as a recipient - interestingly, the mail gets added even after the the user has clearly unsubscribed.

Is this how you intended it to function, or is this a bug? I feel that this is a bug because a Brand will have multiple lists but once the user unsubscribes he/she should be permanently unsubscribed. Please can you clarify?

Creating A Subscribe/Unsubscribe Page...

Hello!

I recently installed Sendy and absolutely love it. However, I am having difficulty creating a 'Subscribe/Unsubscribe' page. I am aware of the HTML 'Subscribe Form Code'. Can I create a 'Subscribe/Unsubscribe' page by simply copying and pasting in the code to a new page and linking it to my existing 'Subscribe' icons.

Commas in "From" Name

I notice that Sendy can't have commas in the "From" name. Is there any workaround for this? E-mails need to appear as if they were sent by our users from their own clients as opposed to in bulk, and that appears Last, First based on our e-mail server setup. This doesn't seem to be an Amazon SES limitation because I've used other SES products that support this. If it is an SES limitation, can I workaround it by using an SMTP server?

If I create 2 'Brands' like this:

Brand 1: ABC with username: hello@abc.com

Brand 2: XYZ with username hello@xyz.com

The client (owner of brand 1) can then click 'Settings' and change his email address to hello@xyz.com. Both usernames are now in the 'login' table with no disambiguation. Perhaps brand-owners should not be allowed to change login name?

Can I get the "Web View" URL to show in the HTML version?

Using [webversion] I can get the newsletter URL to show in the TEXT version of an email, but is there a way to get just the URL to show in the HTML version (rather than the hyperlinked version)? If I use this <webversion>View web version</webversion> it does not give me JUST the URL, all I want is the URL to the web version of my newsletters.

Blank page when trying to upload CSV

I've installed everything twice now, and I've contacted my own host twice (2 separate tickets) My copy of sendy is connected to Amazon fine and it all appears correct.

When I try to upload my contacts I get a blank page after loading the list. Before upgrading my installation it gave me the 404 error page. It also said that I had not got mod_rewrite enabled but my host (wiredtree) says I have mysqli, curl and mod_rewrite enabled.

Since upgrading my copy of sendy it just gives me a blank page.

I have re-uploaded the import-update.php file in binary and can confirm its not corrupted. I also tried the .htaccess edits suggested but they redirected my entire installation to my homepage, so I've left them out.

Is there anyway to fix this?

My server is running Litespeed and is shared (hybrid).

I upgraded to 1.1.7 and where I could send out 130k email's in about 2 hours, its been over 10 hours and I've only sent 88% of them.

Hello all,

Noticed two minor issues with the translation.

  1. Line 64 in list.php is missing the localization for Delete in the title attribute on the a tag.
  2. The generated javascript file, main.php in js/create/ isn't being localized correctly. The rest of the app works just fine, but the text in that one remains in English.

Sending stuck and does not auto resume

We have very large SES limits (500/second, 10,000,000/day) and are trying to send out a newsletter to around 400,000 users right now and Sendy is barely crawling along. In 2 hours, it has sent only 7,500 according to the sending stats in the sendy administration area.

What is the problem here? This is a very powerful dedicated server backed by a very powerful database server. We are sending via cron, and I just don't understand why it's going this slow.

Any advice would be appreciated, as we cannot continue to use this software at this speed. We will have to go back to our custom solution that we used prior to Sendy.

Sending two campaigns at once. Weird stats

We are in the process of sending two campaigns at once right now. The first campaign is sending very slowly (Another thread has been posted about this already). The second campaign is sending, though the stats page indicates that it's not. For this second campaign, the Recipients column says 'Checking' and the Sent column says 'preparing to send' and yet the reports are showing opens and clicks.

Why is the summary page not updating with correct information?

Using Sendy API to work with this AJAX form

Hey guys,

I'm trying to figure out how to make Sendy works with my landing page: http://chic.my (forked repo from https://github.com/scosman/betakit).

The app has its own referrals invitation and shared clicks system, I would like to keep it as is but integrates with Sendy through <form> tag. I'm not really technical so would appreciate some guide and pointers to get this to work using Sendy API.

How do I use Sendy API to send it to Sendy newsletter page (http://newsletter.chic.my) but keep users at current http://chic.my page?

Display Errors always off and PHP prerequisites

  • After enabling display_errors in php.ini browsing to /_compatibility.php?i=1 shows: display_errors is turned off .... Score: 9/9. log file is populated.

  • please specify the prerequisite PHP modules in the installation instructions.

Sending campaign is stuck

Hello

I've searched the forums on this topic and followed similar advice, but nothing is working. Last night I sent a campaign to a combined list of 4400 emails. After about 10 hours, it was still stuck at 30% (around 1300 sent). At that point, I deleted the campaign and cleared the queue as suggested in another post.

This morning I tried sending a new campaign to the same lists with no luck. It's getting stuck at the same point, around 30%. The spinning progress icon is still spinning and I've never seen a Resume button. I'm using Hostgator's reseller account with PHP Memory is set to 256m, and cron is set to run every 05 minutes.

Before this, the last campaign I successfully sent was about a month ago to a list of about 3000. Never had problems before today. I'm on the latest version of Sendy (1.1.7). As of this point, at least 30% of my subscribers have received the campaign email twice, so I run the risk of spamming if I have to try again.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
